Work
Hardening
Work hardening is the process that prepares the employee to re-enter
the work place at a pre-injury level. Treatment in work hardening
consist of an evaluation of the patients musculoskeletal status,
strength, endurance and physical capacity. Treatment also involves
extensive education in proper body mechanics. The employee will be
asked to perform job simulated exercises for 2 to 6 hours a day for
a duration to be determined by their physician. A job analysis will
be performed, if appropriate, to determine the essential job functions
to recondition the patient to full employment.
